It was a 2.5 hour ferry ride from Labuan, crossing Brunei Bay and upstreaming Limbang River, before reaching Limbang Port. The museum was 10 minutes walk from the port.  Front view of Limbang Regional Museum The building served as a fort during the rule of the third White Rajah, Charles Brooke, with the ground floor being used as a prison, and the upper floor used as a storage. It was later used for administrative purpose with several government departments occupying it until it was burnt down in 1989. In 1991, the building was rebuilt by following the original design. Outside the museum entrance, there was a replica of a buffalo. Buffalo is the icon of Limbang. They hold a special significance to the Bisaya com

There was not much space around the building as it was flanked by the TM Point building and the Labuan Tourist Information Centre. The museum houses the history of human settlement in the island, colonial activities, and ethnic groups that live there. Entrance to Labuan Museum.  The museum comprised of two floors. The upper floor was dedicated solely for the cultural history and customs of multiple ethnic groups in Labuan. So first up, was the history of the island. Legend has that Labuan was once colonised by Kublai Khan. But the sure thing is Labuan was part of Brunei before 1846, before being handed over to the British. The British developed the island's economy by starting the coal mining industry there and making the

It is a surprisingly large campus, although the main building is not so big. Most of the parking spots were filled with police cars. The vacant ones behind the main building seemed to be blocking half of the road but I parked there anyway.  Outside the main building, there were exhibitions of vehicles such as PA-4 2220 patrol boat and Cessna U206 9M-PSC patrol aircraft. Next to the aircraft was a Oerlikon 20MM II SS naval gun, used by the marine police and was retired in 1998. There also a few types of cannons and armoured vehicles used during the British colonial era in 1940s and 50s.  Oerlikon 20MM II SS - Naval Gun British Cannon Type HMW 38 Year 1917 - Used to guard the Sg Petani Police Station in 1940  Fort Lynx Scout Car BB 8128 - During the Em

There was another museum related to Orang Asli  that I posted previously . The difference is that museum is managed by the Department of Museum, while this one is managed by the Department of Orang Asli Development.  It is located along the old road leading to Pahang from KL, and some 30 minutes drive from KL's city centre.  I did see RapidKL buses cruising along the road but was unable to find out the bus number. After exiting the main road, a small road leads uphill and after 200m, I reached the Orang Asli Museum. Other than my car, I saw only one other car and the place was dead silent on a Saturday noon, although there were a few other buildings in the area. The building There was no one at the
